Spellbound

SpellBound is the first augmented reality platform engineered for healthcare. The company has been reimagining the patient experience using immersive augmented reality since 2015. It began as a low-cost, scalable way to add imaginative play and wonder into the hospital environment, teaming up with child life specialists, rehabilitation engineers, and nurses to learn more about the challenges pediatric patients face during their hospital journey. After encountering unnecessary sedation with her own children during medical procedures, CEO Christina York expanded SpellBound’s mission to use immersive 3D technology to increase patient cooperation with treatment, including patient education and procedure simulation. SpellBound is now used as a tool in top hospitals across the United States as well as globally in countries like Kenya and Japan.
